my favorite gourmet gift shopping spot...

Paula over at mango&lime is hosting this food destinations event.

my favorite place to shop for all my cooking needs as well as for the special gourmet gifts i like to give is Cooking etc... in Willow Glen, California. Located just 2 blocks from my house on the lovely downtown street of Lincoln Avenue this small, locally owned shop features just about ever cooking implement i have ever seen on the food network and some i haven't. i usually stop in on the weekends to look around and have a chat with Dean, one of the owners. he is a knowledgable cook and just a friendly and helpful man.

i've been introducing him to the world of food blogging challenges and blogging by mail.

last week i took in a print out of the mango&lime challenge and asked if i could take some pictures of the store to add to my entry and dean was thrilled to have me shoot.

if you ever find yourself in San Jose, head over to the Willow Glen neighborhood and stop in at Cooking etc... Have a look around and chat with Dean or Barbara. Get your knives sharpened, find a dipping sauce or some trinket you didn't even know you needed. I guarentee you won't be disappointed.

Great store Barbie! I get lost in it too. Dare we shop there together sometime? Yikes, we could go broke!

Great store! That's my kind of store although I am not a good cook, that's why I have a feeling I need every utensil I can get a hold of, lol!
Michele sent me to say hello :)

yup, your lasagna is THE best!

Yum...lasagna. That store looks dangerous; I'd be in there daily filling my kitchen with "necessary" cooking implements. Simons already freaks over the number of pots and braisers and mixers and choppers I have. I don't know why he complains since he gets to enjoy all the benefits! So you're only an hour away then (I feel like a blog stalker). Hmmm...

actually, i'm not really even an hour away Jemima. Depending on traffic, it can be as little as 40-45 minutes. :)

What's your schedule like? I'll teach you to knit if you teach me how to make those Madelaines...

Oooooooh! I'm going there the next time I visit my brother!

If you saw the same shirt as I did, Barbie, it was at Threadless. I didn't get the "tasty murder" shirt but I have bought 3 other t-shirts from them. They have good quality stuff there.

Oooo, I could definitely do some damage in that store. Not to mention kill a lot of time!

Well a bit far to go I'm afraid but it seems to be a nice place. Here from Michele's today.
