i am so lucky that i survived the 24 hour pH test back in June that i get to go back on October 2nd and have it again.
there goes ANOTHER 2 days of my sick time.
the results from the last one were that yes, i have acid reflux. while the average person experiences 14.6 episodes of reflux in a 24 hour period, i experienced 15.7. so, just above normal. what was exceedingly not normal is that the average persons pH during these episodes is 23, mine was 55.
if this test comes normal i will be referred to a pulmonology specialist for further testing.

Those are odd numbers for pH, Barbie. Were there supposed to be decimal point between the numbers? Usually pH is a log scale from 0 (acid) to 14 (base)
In any case, I hope they're able to correct whatever is causing your pH to be so far off. There's a lot of checks and balances on that sort of thing and it's really not good when it's off. pH is very important for all our internal chemistry to work right.
Michele sent me over here to look at your numbers--but all you gave me was the pH stuff. Damn.
yeah, i don't know what those numbers of 23 and 55 mean but 55 was exceedingly bad. i think it's all a bunch of who haw because the whole time they said i was experiencing reflux i never once had any symptoms.

2 - pH is a scale from 1 to 14 (1 being the most acidic, 14 the most basic, 7 being neutral). an increase in pH means a move away from acidity.
was this a measurement of HCl (hydrochloric acid) concentration? if so, they should explain in what units it's measured and what normal acceptable ranges are both pre and post fast.

Yes, it is odd, Barbie. I sure hope they get it sorted out. I can't imagine that they said you were having it and you had no symptoms. That's weird.
