i took this photo at the forum in rome. i love the deep blue of the sky. it had rained for most of the trip so it was such a treat for the sun to be shining. not long after i took this picture, it clouded up and rained again.
I dream of mermaids and motorcycles and meeting a man that can dance!

This is a perfect perspective. You made it almost three-dimensional by offsetting your vantage point. Textbook composition, in my book.
And the sky? I just love that deep shading. It reaches right into my consciousness.
Am I the only one blown away by the fact that this stuff is still standing? Imagine any of today's buildings still being around in thousands of years. Not so much :)
i was so stunned that i had gotten such a beautiful photo. that is my favorite out of the over 500 pictures i took during that trip.
as for the old still standing, i commented to pillownaut at every turn how amazing it was that there were still pieces of the original wall of the city that just butted up to "new" buildings (from after the war). and i remember wondering more than once it the people living there had any idea of out beautiful it was or if they took it for granted because they see it every day.
gorgeous shot. Makes me wish I was there taking my own shots.
I wonderful picture for the "up" theme. The sky couldn't be more blue either.
Breathtakingly beautiful! I remember that one sunny day! You had some great shots of the Spanish Steps and Colosseum too, I remember. Can you IMAGINE how the Pompeii & Vesuvius photos would have turned out if it hadn't been RAINING, argh, LOL...
:)
You have the eye...keep on shooting. Happy Valentine's Day.
